Unbounded Bound

There’s a direction to my walking.
A way in which I go.
The road all men must travel.
In order for Him to know.

There’s a heading to my running.
A course that I must take.
A track of competition.
Despite the stumbles I make.

There’s a path that leads to glory.
There’s a Man whose paved the way.
There’s someone whose gone before me.
Someone who always obeyed.

I see a crowd around me cheering.
I see my mother in the stands.
I see her eyes lit up in glory.
I know, my heart, she understands.

I look down and see a number.
So high from those before.
In my hand I feel a baton’s weight.
A responsibility I can’t ignore.

There’s a road all men must travel.
There’s a decision each one must make.
It’s a question of absoluteness.
It’s a route so many forsake.

There’s a direction to my walking.
A course to take today.
There’s a Man whose gone before me.
Who bids me “look away”!
