The word of God is faithful, true!
God creates heavens, earth renew,
Making man, His Spirit imbue.
Alone like God, man names zoo,
But Eve out of Adam, rib withdrew.
Serpent comes causing hullabaloo,
Deceived with fruit, lies untrue.
Adam and Eve fall, sin they knew,
God’s promise, you bruise His shoe,
But her seed, your head, He’ll hew.
First couple’s, genealogy grew,
Cain, his brother, Abel, slew.
Enoch walked, taken from view,
Enosh called, to get him thru.
Noah found favor, flood ensue,
Tower of Babel, God overthrew.
Abraham called, the first Hebrew,
Saved Lot from Sodom’s taboo.
Isaac, his son, offered as preview,
Esau sells birthright for some stew.
Jacob’s name, Israel changed to,
Joseph to Egypt, brought the crew.
Moses born, put in basket with glue,
Killed a man, to wilderness flew,
Saw I AM, in burning bush, askew,
Back to Egypt with plagues in queue.
Final straw, being firstborn ado,
Passover initiated, killing an ewe,
Blood on doorpost, left for cue,
Children exit, by Red Sea through.
Hungry they murmur like a shrew,
God rains manna, comes with dew.
Thirsty, they almost, start a coup,
Moses strikes rock, waters spew.
Up the mountain, law to debut,
Instead golden calf built with sprue.
Pattern of tabernacle, God shew,
All attempt, God obey and pursue.
Offerings, Christ’s cross construe,
Warnings given, sin and death eschew.
Spies sent, good report only from two,
For unbelief, forty years strew.
Many failures children accrue,
Fiery bites, due to loathing bread, chew,
Bronze serpent on pole, lifted up in lieu,
Even Moses, does God misconstrue.
Law, commandments get review,
Second generation afforded redo.
More spies sent, cross Jordan blue,
Gate guards to Canaan, overthrew.
Land is divided, portion each due.
Word shows all serve, not sit in pew,
Don’t let clergy, your function subdue.
All the old books point to the new,
Each one contains a special clue.
Sowing seeds of what God will do,
I see Christ, what about you?
