I could only see the curl in your lip,
And your teeth resting upon it.
A bit of blood rolled down your chin,
As the pressure grew intense.
Sweeping in and out of thoughts,
Pinned against your mind;
Knuckles white with tension pressed,
Feeling without really being there.
Breaths of heavy oxygen enter in your lungs,
And cries of shaking hearts echo;
With you laying in the dark,
And open eyes wondering wide in search of awe.
Nightmares are your friend,
As are dreams of unrealistic devotion.
And as leaves plunge heavy in the fall,
You sleep as if you needed warmth.
It’s always nice to hear the recital of the poem by its creator. Great poem man!
