Specificity, time and effect are the difference between the devil’s accusation in your mind and God’s condemnation on your conscience. The devil will say in general, “You’re no good!” but God says, “This specific thing you did, thought you had, or action you took doesn’t match me.” God’s speaking creates an avenue out, based on His precious blood, faith covered in compassion, which results in hope. Satan’s lies create a dead end that can only lead to further despair. God deals with the past to lead us towards a brighter future. Satan deals with the future to keep us dwelling on our past.
God’s judgement always intends to bring about a higher level of growth, maturity and ability to stand firm in Him. Satan’s marketing always intends to keep you alone, bewildered, depressed and overly introspective. Everything he says is fake news, containing small elements of the truth, simply to make his fabrications more believable.
Everything God says is good news, the gospel, that brings us back to Himself as the reality of our salvation! God’s governmental and righteous words are always wrapped in love that result in grace whereas the accuser’s insurgent propaganda is always laced in anxiety and fear that leads to either paralysis or irrationality.
