Dynamic Interplay

Take a look around,
Tell me what you see?
Look at all of creation,
The sun, the stars, the sea.
Scan through the sacred writings,
And tell me what you find.
Dig into the types and figures,
And the offerings of every kind.
Now turning from old to new,
The outline becoming clear;
The luminous figure of a man,
Slowly begins to appear.
But here in the new creation,
And in Jesus Christ’s face;
We have found all reality,
The answer to time and space.

This whole physical world,
And every positive thing;
Is the outward testimony,
Of the soon coming King.
Like the facets of a diamond,
The complete and extensive Christ;
Requires an ever-expanding universe,
Whose description can barely suffice.
He is before everything,
All things cohere in Him.
The body of every shadow,
From the center to the rim.
Not only is He the first place,
But He’s also all in all.
He’s the Spirit of reality,
Within believing man installed.

Look at the lamb and land.
Look at the plants and trees.
Consider a shield and tower,
Or even a refreshing breeze.
He is our food and clothing.
He is the ladder and the door.
He’s the shepherd and the pasture.
Our captain and our shore.
So, stop and ponder this question:
What are all these shadows for?
Are they treasure map directions,
Helping you to explore?
What are they if not love letters?
Rose petals leading you in the way?
The treasure in earthen vessels.
The potter behind the clay.
