Deep End

Don’t you feel it?
Is it not sinking in?
Have you got the impression;
Humanity doesn’t know how to swim!
And yet we’re walking,
Further we go,
Down the sloped floor,
Almost below.
Scared – we’ll don’t be!
It was destined to come.
To prove that our Lifeguard,
Is truly the One.
This worldly deep end,
Don’t think it’s for you.
It’s for them who are drowning.
A judgement come due.
But will you simply sit back,
Wait for the water to rise?
Will you really not tell them,
You’re a fool become wise?
They are your friends,
Coworkers and peers,
Your aunts, your uncles,
You’ve known for years.
Who are you – so special?
So righteous that you deserve?
Do you think you earned it?
Is it yourself that you serve?
Hold onto that truth edge,
And stick out your hand.
Speak out good news,
Speak the grand plan –
It was upon the surface of deep waters.
His Spirit was brooding.
He was seeking and searching.
To the God-man, alluding.
And out of these death waters,
The third day, dry land appeared.
Our forerunner, Jesus.
A new way, resurrection pioneered.
