Furnace

Here I have this fire
Burning over there
And when there’s time
I’ll come back to it
Come back when I’m aware
Of all the hands
Who’ve touched my life
Of all the hands in prayer
Come back to it
To use its heat
Come back to it and declare
This fire will not consume me
This fire I will share
This fire that I use to believe
Deprives me of my air
But actually, as I blow on it
It burns more than it tears
And in its flame, I begin to see
It’s the first stage of repair
So, I will keep on breathing
Allow the flame to burn away
And maybe bring marshmallows
And beside the heat I’ll stay
